July 17th HA Meeting
VFW Post 3460, Auxiliary and HA Members,
Thank you for the good turnout at last nights HA Meeting. Here are a few of the highlights;
Opening; Explained new structure of Home Association Officers to now be House Committee with 3 VP's elected the same way Trustees are elected in Post and Auxiliary. They will be responsible for the operation of the canteen and Home Association. Election, by Post Members will be every year, not every even year. Joe Strauch will still be appointed recording secretary and communications/security officer.
Canteen Manager; Pat Flanagan reported profits, including rentals, are up and doing very well with all bills paid. Better than expected turnouts for Karaoke and Open Mic Nights and they will continue. Building needs gutter work and estimates have come in and repairs will be done before end of summer.
Bingo; Changes will be coming to Bar Bingo when it resumes in the September. House Committee met with those that have been running bingo after the meeting and discussed changes to be made regarding start time, food, cover all, and rules. A vote was taken by the House Committee to appoint Harry Kent the Bingo Manager. He will have full control of Bar Bingo Nights. George Rogers said he no longer wants to count the money and wants to go back to playing bingo. Thanks for all you did George. Hope you win a couple. Final changes will be announced at the August HA Meeting the third Wednesday of next month at 6PM.
Shirts; Jerry McCann brought us up to date on the progress of having Post Shirts for sale. He has contacted a few vendors and will get the best deal. Walt Batog contacted dealer in Jersey and put him in touch with Jerry.
Super Sunday; A check has been sent but they are booked up. They will try and fit us in.
Crab Feast; Putting out feelers to see if we should have crab feast. Proposed #1 crabs, pig roast, hot dogs, beer and wine. Cost will be $40.00. A few said cost is too high. We will put on hold for now.
Promoting The Post; Sara Painter has contacted agents, renting apartments on the corner, and they have agreed to include our brochure when applicants come in. Captain Heggie is re-doing them and they will be available shortly. Sara also contacted PENDOT about putting direction signs up on the pike pointing to our post. Our main goal is to bring in Young VFW Eligible Veterans to our post.
Visit our web site www.vfw3460.com and pass it on the your family and friends to help us bring in new members and rentals.
